Trotters First to Debut in Atlantic Sires Stakes Action
After a delayed start to the stake season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the best two and three-year-old trotters and pacers from across the Maritimes will be featured next week at Red Shores Summerside Raceway, as part of harness racing action during Governor’s Plate Week.
A full slate of Atlantic Sires Stakes events will take place throughout the week, beginning with the two and three-year-old trotters on Tuesday evening. Two divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes – Meridian Farms/Prince Edward Island Harness Racing Industry Association three-year-old trot will go for a purse of $8,140. Meanwhile, one division of the Atlantic Sires Stakes – Meridian Farms/Prince Edward Island Harness Racing Industry Association two-year-old trot will go for $15,380. First race post time on Tuesday is 6:30pm.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action will continue on Wednesday evening when the two-year-old pacing fillies meet for some friendly competition and the two year-old pacing colts will have their time to shine on Thursday.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action will wind up at Red Shores Summerside Raceway on Friday and Saturday with the three-year-old pacing fillies and colts.
Points earned in each Atlantic Sires Stakes trotting event and ‘A’ division pacing event go towards earning a spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships October 10 -11, 2020.

It is important that if you are feeling unwell not to attend these events. Please also allow sufficient time for travel as you cross the Provincial Borders as there is documentation of residency required at the check points. It is your responsibility to make sure you have the required documentation to enter the Provinces.
