Atlantic Sire Stakes to Summerside

The best two- and three-year-olds from across the Maritimes will be featured this week at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway, as part of harness racing action during Governor’s Plate Week.
A full slate of Atlantic Sires Stakes events will take place throughout the week, beginning with the two- and three-year-old trotters on Tuesday evening (July 9).
Three divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes – Meridian Farms and PEIHRA three-year-old trot will each go for a purse of $6,180, while one division of the Atlantic Sires Stakes – Meridian Farms and PEIRAHA two-year-old trot will go for $15,720. Meridian Farms, Atlantic Canada’s largest Standardbred breeding operation, is a continued sponsor along with the PEIHRA of the trotting events this season. First race post time on Tuesday is 6:30 p.m.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action will continue on Wednesday evening (July 10), when two-year-old pacing fillies line up behind the gate to make their debut in ATSS action, and two year-old pacing colts will make their debut on Thursday (July 11).
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action will wind up at Red Shores Summerside on Friday (July 12) and Saturday (July 13), with three-year-old pacing fillies and colts hitting the track.
Points earned in each Atlantic Sires Stakes trotting event and ‘A’ division pacing event go towards earning a spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships.
