SUMMERSIDE, PE – Marc Campbell continued his grip on the Red Shores Summerside driver’s standings Friday evening as Governor’s Plate Week racing continued.
Campbell scored in a pair of $9,160 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies with his own trainees. Elektra Express was a 1:56.1 winner for Campbell and owner Danica Ellis of Brookfield, N.S., with Goodmorning Ky (Driven by Norris Rogers) finishing second and Winrlosedrnkdaboze (Gilles Barrieau) third.
Filly Forty Seven was another Campbell winner in her $9,160 A-division in 1:55.4 for owners Darrly MacLean of Winsloe, Katelyn Smallwood of Stratford, Cory Carver of Montague and Tanya Tremblett of Sydney Mines, N.S. Traces Of Purple (Barrieau) was a hard closing second while Brief Interlude (Adam Merner) completed the triactor.
Woodmere Finesse captured the other A-division split in 1:57.1 for trainer-driver Bernard McCallum and owner Edward Maher of Lower Sackville, N.S., over Tobins Secret (Earl Smith) and Bonzai Beach (Gary Chappell).
The $2,500 Andrew Perry Memorial trot saw a track record performance as Osprey Impact won in 1:57.2 for driver Walter Cheverie and owner-trainer Paul Larrabee of Belle River. The victory eclipsed Thunderaway’s 1:58.1 overall track trotting record.
Ultimateflyingnun continued her win streak with three straight victories now after a 1:56.2 lifetime best performance in the Bud Ramsay Memorial Pace for driver Todd Trites, trainer Sifroi Melanson and owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B.
The $2,500 Atlantic Sires Stakes B-divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies were won by Gulf Queen (Mark Haig) in 1:59.4, Dusty Lane Zendaya (Ron Gass) in 1:58.2 and Woodmere Dreams (Mark Bradley) in 1:57.3.
Campbell had a driving triple on the program as he also won with JJ Antonio in 2:00.3 for trainer Earl Watts of Hampshire.
Elm Grove Kaboom won the Medastar Memorial Pace in 1:56.3 for trainer-driver Smith and owners Larry and Kathy Chappell of Marshfield while the Noonan Petroleum Pace was won by Salmonier Storm and owner-trainer-driver Ambyr Campbell in 1:58.2.
Dusty Lane Jacob scored in a $1,400 trot class in memory of the late Boyd Leslie in 2:00.2 for driver Ken Murphy, trainer and co-owner Cindy MacDonald of Montague and co-owner Tanya MacKinnon of Souris.
