​Fillies Prepare To Strut Their Stuff Wednesday In Summerside

SUMMERSIDE, PE – The two-year-old pacing fillies have the spotlight firmly centred on them Wednesday night at Red Shores Summerside as part of Governor’s Plate week racing at the Prince County Oval.

First race post time is 7 P.M. for the 10-dash card with three $9,460 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-divisions lining up in races 4, 6 and 8 as the two-year-old pacing fillies make their stakes debut.

Elm Grove Misty was spectacular in her two-year-old overnight debut besting a field of older pacing mares with a first over 2:01.1 score for trainer-driver Dave Kelly, who co-owns with Charlene Cypher of North Wiltshire. The two-year-old daughter of Stonebridge Terror has rail control in her stakes debut with R Es Shabla (Mike McGuigan) and Howmac Blaze (Marc Campbell) listed as the top opposition in the field of six.

The second A-division in race 6 has Saulsbrook Coral (Gilles Barrieau) as the morning line choice from post 6 for trainer Earl Watts and owner Daniel Ross of Belfast. Top contenders in the $9,460 race include Chocolate Terror (Paul Langille) and Elm Grove Mistress (Earl Smith).

The final A-split will see Bettim Jackie make her pari-mutuel debut after qualifying in 2:01.2 with a 58.3 closing half for driver Gary Chappell, co-owner and trainer Jeff Lilley of Milton, Blair MacLauchlan of Straford and Danny Purcell of Newport, N.S. Top entries include Scarlet Desire (Campbell) and Royaltywestho (Walter Cheverie).

A pair of $2,500 B-divisons for two-year-old pacing fillies hit the track in races 5 and 7.
