Charlottetown, PE – The Host Committee of the 2016 Atlantic Breeders Crown today released more details on the action packed weekend activities.
Saturday evening as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Atlantic Sires Stakes program, three individuals who have played an important role in it’s establishment and success will serve on a panel. Titled 50 years of progress hosts Lee Drake and Vance Cameron will moderate a discussion featuring Lloyd Palmer, a former PEI Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Standardbred breeder, and the co-ordinator of the first ASBA Yearling sale; Phil Pinkney, one of the most respected and successful trainer drivers in the Atlantic region; and Bert McWade, former Atlantic Lottery Corporation Harness Racing executive, and the creator of the Atlantic Breeders Crown. The Saturday evening event will be held at Red Shores in the Top of the Park restaurant as part of the sold out Atlantic Breeders Crown banquet sponsored in part by PEI Standardbred Horse Owners Association.
Sunday morning following the complimentary pancake breakfast at Turf’s Bar & Grill, six trainer- drivers will discuss some of their outstanding horses over the years, and answer fans questions. The participants will be Kenny Arsenault, Mike Campbell, Marc Campbell, Ronnie Matheson, Danny Romo and Earl Smith.
The panel discussion, hosted by Jerry McCabe, will be held in the simulcast theatre on the main level of the grandstand at 1030 a.m. Admission is free, as it is to the Pancake breakfast sponsored by David Corrigan, Coldwell Banker Parker Realty and Dr. Kathleen MacMillan, Atlantic Veterinary College which starts at 930 am.
