Trotters Invade Inverness Raceway

It was an invasion of the Atlantic Sires Stakes – Meridian Farms trotters on Wednesday at Inverness Raceway, as four trotting divisions were highlighted on the evening race card.

J K Blaze and driver Walter Cheverie captured the first $8280 division for three-year-old trotters.  The duo crossed the finish line in 2:03.4 for owner-trainer Joey Smallwood of Stratford, PE.

The Cheverie-Smallwood combination also met with success when High Bid won his $9060 two-year old division.  The bay trotting gelding clocked a time of 2:05.1.

Sweetwater Rayne and driver Jack Panting took first place in their three-year-old event in a time of 2:06.3 for owner Linda Austin of Mount Stewart, PE.

The final Atlantic Sires Stakes-Meridian Farms event went to Cardigan Jack and driver Marc Campbell in 2:06.3.  Ownership papers on the two-year-old trotter are held by John and Barbara Breau of Shediac Cape, NB.

Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action heats up again on Saturday afternoon, when both the three-year-old pacing colts and fillies head to Northside Downs in North Sydney.

The three-year-old colts will go in two $9580 ‘A’ divisions and two $2500 ‘B divisions.  Meanwhile the three-year-old pacing fillies will go in two $10,180 ‘A’ divisions.

First race post time at Northside Downs on Saturday is 1 pm.
