Red Shores Summerside Raceway Hosts Atlantic Sires Stakes Colts
Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old pacing colts met for the first time this season on Wednesday night at Red Shores Summerside Raceway, as part of the Governor’s Plate Week of harness racing action.
Jackson K Down took the first $7720 ‘A’ division event with Gilles Barrieau in the bike. The two-year-old pacing colt, out of Camystic and Village Jericho, is owned by Downey Stables of Quispamsis, NB. Lukes Cowboy and driver Kenny Arsenault and PH Blackjack and Todd Trites came home second and third respectively.
The second ‘A’ division event on the evening card went to Heart and Soul and driver Clare MacDonald. The ownership papers on the colt are held by Earith and George Riley of Kensington, PE. K D Overdrive and Gilles Barrieau finished second and Woodmere Terror and Marc Campbell were third.
Elm Grove Kaboom and driver Marc Campbell took first place honours in their division crossing the finish line first for owners Kenneth Wilkie of Montague, PE and Larry Chappell of Marshfield, PE. Pro Side under the command of Bernard McCallum placed second and Dare You and Danny Romo finished third.
Despite heavy rain during the race card all Sakes events were able to take place and the final ‘A’ event went to Up And Gone, driver Mike Stevenson and owner Robert Wilson of Woodstock, NB. Magical Cowboy finished second and Dilans Mustang third.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action continues Thursday night at Red Shores Summerside Raceway when the three-year-old pacing fillies meet. First race post time is 7 pm.
