Dixieland Band and Bngs Express Victorious in Atlantic Sires Stakes Events

Dixieland Band clocked the fastest mile of the day at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon, crossing the finishing in 1:57.1 and capturing first place in one of two Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘A’ division events.  The three-year-old pacing colt was under the command of driver Gilles Barrieau, earning the winner’s share of the $9380 purse for owners Reginald MacPherson and David MacKenzie of Stratford, PE and Aaron MacKenzie of Winsloe, PE.

Bngs Express took first place honours in the other ‘A’ division event in 1:59 with Danny Romo in the bike for owners Thomas Hawco and George Della Valle of Sydney, NS.

Meanwhile Hog Aufray and driver Marc Campbell won the first of two $2500 ‘B’ division events for owners Windemere Farms of North Wiltshire, PE and Claude Poirier of Havre-Aux-Maisons, QC.

The three-year-old pacing colt George and driver Clare MacDonald crossed the finish line first for owners Riley Farms and Earith Riley of Kensington, PE in the other ‘B’ division event.

Points earned in each Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘A’ division event go towards earning a coveted spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championship.  This year’s Weekend of Champions will be hosted by Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Thanksgiving Weekend.
