Touch of Lightning clocked an impressive time at Truro Raceway on Saturday evening in Atlantic Sires Stakes harness racing action. The three-year-old pacing colt crossed the finish line in 1:55 with driver Earl Smith in the bike for owners Peter Smith, Charlottetown, PE, Don Smith, Pownal, PE, Gerald Morrissey, Vernon Bridge, PE, and Larry Chappell, Marshfield, PE. Coming home a close second and third were Putnams New Year and driver Todd Trites and Mr Thompson and driver Mike Stevenson.
The other $9380 ‘A’ division event on the evening race card went to Junebugs Baby and driver Greg Sparling in a time of 1:57 for owners Fraser Turnbull of Dominion, NS, and John Turnbull of Glace Bay, NS. Finishing second was Astronomical Union and driver Marc Campbell and third was Putnams Storm and Todd Trites.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action heats up again on Wednesday evening when the two and three-year-old trotters invade Woodstock, NB. First race post time on Wednesday is 7 pm.
