Mr Thompson and Dukes Up Capture Atlantic Sires Stakes Events at Fredericton Raceway
Mr Thompson, with driver Mike Stevenson in the bike, captured the first of two Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘A’ division events at Fredericton Raceway on Monday afternoon. The three-year-old pacing colt crossed the finish line in 1:56.3 for owners Boyd MacDonald Produce of Crapaud, PEI, and Daniel Ross of Belfast, PEI. Coming home second was Touch of Lightning and driver Earl Smith and third place went to First Art Down and Steve Mason.
The second $9780 ‘A’ division event went to Dukes Up and driver Kenny Arsenault in a time of 1:57 for owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford, PEI. Second place went to Putnams Storm and driver Todd Trites and placing third was This Bird Will Fly and driver Brodie MacPhee.
The lone Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘B’ division event on the afternoon race card went to Putnams New Year and driver Todd Trites in 1:59 for owner Wesley Patriquin of Debert, NS.
The Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old pacing colts will meet again on Saturday afternoon at Northside Downs in North Sydney. First race post time on Saturday will be 1:30 pm.
