Atlantic Sires Stakes Racing Action Heating Up
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action is heating up all across the Maritimes this week. The trotters had the opportunity to take centre stage at Connell Park Raceway in Woodstock, NB, on Wednesday evening.
Perfect Posture and driver Brain MacPhee won the first two-year-old trotting event on the race card for owner Melvin Willis of Cambridge, ON. The second two-year-old event went to B J Carmalyta and owner-driver Bert Honkoop of Montague, PE.
Meanwhile, Maple Leaf Spirit took first place honors in a three-year-old trotting event for owner-driver Ralph Annear and Steven Sorrie of Montague, PE. The Iceman Aireth with Marc Campbell in the bike captured the other three-year-old event for Greenoakes Farm of Mississauga, ON.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action continues Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon at Northside Downs in North Sydney, NS, when both the two-year-old pacing fillies and colts meet for competition. Then the racing action heads to Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon when the three-year-old pacing fillies roll into town.
Points earned in each Atlantic Sires Stakes “A” division pacing event and all trotting events go towards earning a coveted spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships. This year’s event will be hosted by Red Shores Charlottetown on October 8th and 9th.
